HO Rolling Stock <<-- Previous   index   Next -->> Weighting cars 1 Magnets used for uncoupling have an unfortunate side effect of tending to pull on cars with steel axles or weights. This can cause slack and uncoupling to occur when not wanted. So, as I build kits I replace any steel weights with lead and the wheelsets with non-magnetic metal wheels. To replace the flat weights used on the sloping ends of many hoppers I have bought a small roll (7kg, about 15lbs) of 'Code 3' roof flashing.
