Finally at this stage both propshafts, props and the couplings were installed and the motors given a spin with a 3V power supply to check everything ran without obvious problems.

I am using a pair of universal joints on each drive joined back to back to form a Cardan shaft coupling. This can handle a range of misalignments better than a single UJ.
