This is some completed painting. You can see on the white unit that that a little paint has crept under the mask, but overall the operating area of the turnouts is fairly clean.
Once the ballast is in place a coat of weathering spray will be applied, mainly from above rather than the side as this coat was, and these masks will be used again then. This saves a second round of manually masking each turnout with tape :-)
