The next trial involved cutting deep notches in the end of the stock part so it would wrap round the stern more. This reduced the height above the deck to a good value but needed to 'wrap' more than 180 degrees to tuck under without a lot of filling. It also looked too large a diameter and the pronounced shoulders were also not the style I was now tending toward.
