AHTS Hull Build
Once the Kort/A-frame was fixed attention turned to the tube/hull entry. This hole was now bigger as the tube was lower, so the hole had to be extended forward to accommodate this. First the forward area was epoxied in place.
Then a piece of ally mesh (from a car filler kit) 20mm wide and 50mm long was wrapped round the tube and up into the hull before being folded over as tabs to lie flat on the inside of the hull. The inside tabs were epoxied to the hull. When set the hull was inverted again and the mesh seen here embedded in epoxy to make a solid joint. There is a gap above the tube (below and right in this picture) which will be filled with P38 and shaped. |
