Before fitting the plating the bow had an access hole cut as seen here from inside. Through this P38 was applied to the plating, stem rod, tubing and false bottom to reinforce this area as much as possible. All the volumes enclosed by the piping and plating were then filled with foam - you can see one of the holes made for the nozzle just left of the bow thruster.
